It's been a long winter and we've been looking forward to Spring! I had to write a quick post recapping the last big winter snow storm and all the fun the kids had playing in the snow!
This really was Mady's first winter, she was only 8-9 months last year and wasn't able to really enjoy all the fun snow can bring!
Let me just tell you, Mady was NOT interested in going out to play. Aiden loves the snow, especially throwing snow balls and "helping" Daddy shovel, so we could not put his snow gear on fast enough! Mady, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with any of it. She screamed and cried through the whole process. I KNEW Mady would end up loving the snow, she just needed to get out there, so I did feel very bad about semi-forcing her into her snow outfit and boots (ok, I forced her... but I did let her watch Despicable Me and gave her milk to calm her down before we actually went out).
As you can see, Mady was initially very unimpressed with the whole experience in the beginning.
But my little spark plug warmed up to the snow very quickly! The only tears that were shed after that was when we told her we had to go inside! (She wouldn't compromise on the mittens though)
My handsome guy loves plopping in the snow and throwing snowballs!
Poor Daddy, he shoveled while we played.
Ta-da!
Aiden threw this at me. Thanks, Buddy!
Yay for mittens! I told Mady she could only hold snowballs if she put her mittens on. (Score one for Mommy!)
Our neighbor thought Mady was a boy... SMH... so what if she's wearing Aiden's only snow pants and hat? Clearly our neighbor did not notice the ruffles on her coat.
We've been wanting to take Aiden sledding since last winter when Aunt Kristin got him a sled for Christmas, but our cautious little guy much preferred using the it as a means to schlep snow around the yard. This year, with our fearless Mady, we figured if Aiden saw how much fun Mady was having he'd be willing to try... and he was! (Score another point for Mommy and Daddy!)
Endless giggles!
After a couple runs with Daddy, Aiden was willing to try going himself!
WIPE OUT! Oops..
I think the kids had the most fun when they went together with Daddy (that poor sled).
Making snow angels
Want to build a snowman?
Snow days are so much fun!!
Here are a few more pics from the past month. Lots of Mady since I took most of them while Aiden was at school. I love that she and I get a little one on one time during the week. I was able to spend so much time with Aiden by himself when he was younger, I sometimes worry that I don't give Mady enough of that.
Bedtime stories!
Mady is our active one! I think she going to love sports (much to Daddy's delight!). Here she is with Daddy, sinking a basket!
She's so proud of herself. :)
Mady also loves bacon... Mommy's girl for sure!
My cookie monster!
Our little musician! Aiden LOVES music... I think this may be his calling.
The kids are really into the movie 'Frozen' now, especially the 'Let it Go' song (of course). Aiden is quite the performer when it comes on, with Mady as his backup dancer. Mady tries to sing too, which is beyond adorable.
We're tired of the cold and snow... HELLO SPRING!
Up next... MADY TURNS 2!?
